Dark Light

Back to life and the old routine. Our idyllic vacation served to contrast how things are back home where the weather is not ideal to spend all your time outdoors, and work demands that the kids get less time with their parents.

I had the “pleasure” of driving Everett to Candice’s again today. After being with us pretty much the whole month, we are sending him back to day home. Everett hates going to day home. (He also doesn’t like playing with grandma when she’s here, but interestingly really likes playing with Melodie). You can phrase the question any way you want, but he clearly tells you, “My want to stay at home. My don’t want to go to Candice’s.” In goes so far as to want to go to sleep: “My tired, my want to go to sweep.” He then heads up to his room and rolls around in his bed with his blanket. Poor Beanie. Sometimes in the morning when I’m driving, he was say, “My want to go to breakfast,” as you know one of my favorite times with Everett, but it feels like I’m betraying him and taking him to jail or something.

There were tears driving over to Candice’s this morning and the usual crying at drop off. But it sounded like Everett actually had a good day. Candice sent us a photo:

Yes I know. Not very convincing. Shannon and I thought Everett looked like his spirit was broken. Brooke was playing with Skye’s helicopter, and while it is in the shot, it didn’t seem like she was sharing with Everett.

We picked him up later in the afternoon at the park. We were standing there talking with Candice for a good five minutes before Everett even noticed us there and came to us with a big smile. It sounded like he did have a decent day at day home though. He had a few minutes of crying, but then later he got over it and went about his day playing. He had grapes (one of his favorite), and spaghetti for lunch. They played at the park where he pooed his pants and one of his Paw Patrol underwear became a casualty. When we asked him later that evening, he didn’t seem too upset at going to Candice’s the next time.

At lunch break, I had about 40 minutes with Shannon and Sierra at Earls.

Earls    Poo explosion

Yes, poo explosion.

Other than that, Sierra also had a very good day today. Not as much crying, and sat happily at dinner watching us and jumped in the play jumper. Shannon’s trying to start Sierra on some solids. Unlike Everett who ate everything, Sierra purses her lips whenever a spoon nears.
