Dark Light

Sometimes you do the same routine over and over again and you forget that you have to move on to other things to keep thing interesting, and that Everett and Sierra are growing too and they’re more capable of other toys.

It didn’t seem too long ago when Everett had no idea what to do with building blocks. He was just way too small when we bought those bricks on sale at Toys R Us, I think mid last year. He didn’t have any coordination to stack anything, much less piece Lego together, and he definitely didn’t have imagination.

So one morning when I was up playing with Everett in the morning, we took out the bin of bricks and built some stuff. At first it was a green alligator and he loved it! He kept building more stuff and eventually built a family of dinosaurs: Everett dinosaur, momma dinosaur, dad dinosaur and baby dinosaur. There is definitely some abstract though to these creations and I was surpised at his imagination. He went on to have a gray backpack for the dinosaur, or a green hat.

He’s also moved on to draw circles. I dug out the Paw Patrol felts and coloring book that he got for Christmas again and here he is trying at first to draw some wheels to a Chase truck I drew for him. He’s not quite good enough to do that yet, so the wheels end up being big circles, and we just called them tai-yeungs (ie. the sun).

Being busy keeping Everett entertained, I forget Sierra is also moving on too. I brought out the Jolly Jumper and behold! Sierra already hates being in anything less than an upright 90 degree position, so the Jumper is perfect for her. Here’s her first day on it.
