My Bean and I had a very nice afternoon after I got back from work yesterday.
We first went about trying to extract Sierra’s sweater from her Chase bike, that somehow got caught in the chain a while back.
We got the tools out, and I got Everett involved in taking some screws out. He was quite happy to be helpful even though he ended up dropping one of the screws and losing it. Fortunately, I had a spare which actually fit!
Despite the weather being marginal, being quite windy and actually cold (but fortunately no rain), we biked around doing errands. I wanted to get a kickstand because the one on my bike broke. We didn’t have a chance to do this, but managed to go to Home Depot and searched for an Allen key that I needed for this project. I told Everett that the tools that were his and he was super excited to have some real tools, and wanted to keep the Allen key set in his room.
We then when shoe shopping and ended up at Sport Chek wherever it helped select and a nice pair of blue runners that were the same brand as his own. We ended the excursion with a banana split at Dairy Queen.
Being the dad, I didn’t find this bike ride around doing errands to be anything special. I mean, the weather wasn’t great. We were biking around busy traffic and parking lots. But Everett kept going on and on about how great the day was and was super happy. He even said that spending time with Daddy was better than playing with his friends haha!
I think it just goes to show once again that is really about spending time with the kids and doing things together.
