Dark Light

I think I accidentally gave the Bean nightmares for a few nights. He was taking a nap in the afternoon and Shannon and I were watching an episode of The Walking Dead. Everett started squawking close to the end of the episode so I got him and we watched the last part together.

This was the episode where (spoiler!) Glenn dies. Zombies surrounded Glenn on the dumpster and he ended up falling into hoard after his partner committed suicide and dragged him down. Everett recognized that Glenn “deet-do” (fell down) and we watched as Glenn was eviscerated, intestines pulled from his chest and devoured by ravished Walkers.

Rick was driving the RV, so we pointed out to Everett the nice “shu-shu” (trees), the “big bus,” and “wheels.” While Rick was rummaging in the back of the RV, he gets tackled by some strangers and again “deet-do.” Of course, Rick fights them off and kills their family. But of course, now his RV won’t start as another hoard of zombies start surrounding him as theĀ episode came to an end.

Everett was leaning on the sofa when Shannon unreclined the sofa and retract the foot rest. Everett stumbles and I say “Mo deet-do! Zombies going to get you!” The Bean freaked and scrambled up to his feet right up to us. I picked him up as he looked behind him at the TV that was already turned off. “Zombies bye-bye, all gone, no more,” I tried to reassure him.

Shannon and I were both surprised that for such a little guy, he knew to be scared and reacted the way he did. He some how understood that if you fell down, you could get caught by these zombies!

We were out at Costco and just out of nowhere Everett would start screaming, squeeze his eyes shut and wanted to be taken out of the shopping cart and carried. He would rest his head on my shoulder and be still, which was unlike him as he is usually squirming. I couldn’t figure out what this was at first, but then realized it was probably because of the Halloween decorations that were on sale – witches that looked just like the Walkers! His eyes were squeezed shut. I think he was terrified!
