Dear Everett,
As you are growing up, daddy has been noticing how my favourite little boy is learning how he fits in with everyone around him. You are learning to be safe, and when you need to be around an adult. Sometimes you get worried about who will take care of you or look after you when you are out by yourself so you know to stay close to mom and dad. When you’re not too tired, help out Sierra and teach her about safety, and the both of you makes sure daddy and mommy don’t leave either of you two behind when we’re starting up the car.
At the Chisholm family reunion this week, you kids are all playing together so well. Jolene’s kids are old enough to baby sit, particularly Julia who read stories to my attentive little Beans. While the same age, Ellie is a year older in height and shoe size than you and Hailey. Sierra just jumps right in there with the rest of the kids.
During a reprieve in playing and running around, maybe at dinner or when you’re just catching a breather, you are pensive and you ask me questions about your world. Like about what facts Hailey might know that you don’t, or what allergies papa has and delighted to discover that you and he are both allergic to dogs!
When I take a step back, I realize that you are still very little, although you are a big boy now compared to when daddy first knew you, when you fit on my lap lengthwise like Logan. When I tell you this, you are amazed that you were once this small too. Sierra then chirps in with a comment too about being a baby.
