Dark Light

I’ve noticed Everett becoming more helpful around the family these last two months. It’s not just getting himself dressed, or getting table settings out for himself. It’s that he’s becoming more aware of people around him.

Certainly the first is Sierra. When she gets upset, Everett is taking more initiative to try and make her feel better. He tries to distract her or get her toys that he knows she likes like her stuffy Piggy or one of her favorite books. Yesterday, Sierra was suddenly done at grandparents’s house and started crying, and Everett tried reading her his new book.

The other day, I was upset because Sierra had her uncapped felt marker all over the place and was inadvertently coloring the fridge. That was not a problem but there was marker over our leather seats which wouldn’t come out. I said I was going to throw all the markers out into the garbage. Everett jumped in and said he would wash it out. He scrubbed hard, but not effectively. We tried the magic eraser, but to no avail despite Everett’s best efforts.

We went to visit Pek-gong one day. As he was leaving the house, I told Everett to help Pek-gong out so he wouldn’t fall, as he is getting a little more unsteady with age, and using his cane (his “stick”). Everett hopped over and took Pek-gong’s hand walking him down the steps to the sidewalk.

Such a good little Bean.

He used to be so little.
