Dark Light

Since the weather turned around and spring established its foothold here, the kids have been playing with some of the neighbours. Certainly, there’s some hesitation due to COVID-19, but we have relaxed our isolation and distancing somewhat. The two families whose kids we play with don’t play with anyone else, and we know that the numbers in Central Zone Alberta are very low, so we feel a little more reassured with the risks.

I think we must have been cooped inside the house because of COVID-19 and the weather for 5 weeks or so before it was nice enough to start enjoying the outdoors once again. The kids have been out biking almost every day. I helped Jason put together a swing playground in his back yard. It took about a day and a half putting it together, but it was satisfying, mentally low effort work. The kids hang out there too for a couple of hours each day.

The three boys are best friends right now playing together daily. Sierra and Isla also play together concurrently, although I think Sierra would really want to be one of the boys and play with her brother’s friends, especially when they are outside and riding around on their bikes. Then again, she and Isla love dressing up in different outfits, sometimes princess costumes and other times swim suits. Of course, Sierra’s already an expert in make up and nails at the age of three.

The boys have come up with a routine of favorite stops on our bike ride including the river, the secret tree and dinosaur rock. We threw in a Dairy Queen on this ride too!
