This morning, Everett, Sierra and I went out for a walk along the beach while Mama slept. He brought along his bucket and toys, but didn’t actually use any of it. Sierra was good being held and walking and eventually fell asleep in the carrier. Everett was not as afraid stepping in the sand and even in the surf. He went along making footprints and “wrecking” all the little holes that the crabs made.
We caught the koi feeding this morning at the resort too:
When Shannon got up, we got every one lathered with sunscreen to go out for a bike ride. This was the point where Sierra started crying and would not stop. We got a sub at Subway for lunch and the drove to Kapaa. There’s a 4-5 mile path along the northwest coast of Kauai called the Royal Coconut Coast that would have been nice to ride along, however we discovered that none of the bike rental places have trailers that would be appropriate for Sierra. Instead, we walked down the path a little bit, Everett wanting to chase the roosters along the way. It is not certain if the roosters were afraid of Everett or Everett more afraid of the roosters.
We ended off the early afternoon with some shaved ice again from Ono Ono and then back to the condo for a nap. Shannon had had enough with Sierra and needed a swim on her own while I stayed at the condo with the kids. When she wasn’t sleeping, Sierra continued to cry.
Once up and at it again, it was off to the swimming pools. Shannon didn’t get much of a chance to swim with Everett so she got to take him and I held on to Sierra. Everett gets more and more comfortable in the water each day, especially with his flotation outfit. I don’t know if it was the current, or if it was actually due to Everett kicking, but he managed to get all the way to the edge of the pool by himself!
We convinced him to go on the slides a couple more times which he started to enjoy. In fact, towards the end, he wanted to do the tall slide all by himself and was upset that mom was there behind him. We did let him go on his own as he insisted with me catching him at the bottom. Of course, he careened sideways down the slide and I couldn’t tell how much water he ingested by the time I scooped him up at the bottom. He was done with the slide after that!
We barbecued up some racks of lamb from Costco for dinner. Everett helped by carrying the Montreal Steak Spice down with him, and I chased him around the grassy area in between checking on the meat.
