Lately, as the weather has improved, I have been taking the wagon out to pick up the Beans from day home. Is not too long of a walk, but I think the kids really enjoy the ride in the wagon, looking around and see what is going on. We run into dogs all the time, Sierra points out “cars” and Everett likes to push the lock button on the street light. When all the car stopped for us, he tells me that they are race cars, and that they’re very fast.
Sierra is usually pretty easy-going, and not as high maintenance as Everett. She is along for the ride and is happy doing whatever Everett is doing. So if Everett wants to get out of the wagon and walk or run for some reason, Sierra wants to do the same thing, so becomes a little more hairy for dad.
Once in a while the kids get a treat and we stop off at the corner store. This is usually only if I remember to bring my wallet and some money. I’m trying to teach Everett a little bit about money, but it is still certainly a very abstract concept. This is especially the case since we don’t use cash anymore. For a while now, I have gotten Everett to push the “green button” on the card machines. But for the corner store, I bring a five or $10 bill that Everett gives to the clerk along with his treat. Since this doesn’t happen very often, I’m sure it is a very strange habit as observed by a little kid.
When we don’t want to go to the store, or forget to bring my wallet, I tell Everett that I have to go fang-gong (go to work) so that I can make some money and buy Everett some treats. He has picked up on this a little bit, and tells me to go fang-gong so that he can buy the toy, or a candy the next time.
