Dark Light

Our last day in Cancun! Sad, but also glad. Like our previous holidays with the children, this one demonstrated to us that the kids are still too little to travel with and have any semblance of relaxation.

This morning, we got up at 5:30am or so, 6:30am Cancun time. Sierra started jibber jabbering to herself and then Everett awoke. He insisted that it was wake-up time and there was no convincing him of anything otherwise. He tried telling mommy to get up and opened up the curtains. So I got up and got Everett and Sierra dressed, rushing them out. Everett changed his mind and decided it wasn’t wake up time yet, because really he just wanted to be with mommy.

So while he was wailing, I put him outside, facing the highway, so that he could cry it out.

Once we got over that, we walked over to the beach. Sierra was not convinced the beach was the best place to go. She hates getting stuff on her feet, and she doesn’t particularly like sand. Actually, she doesn’t like it at all. Everett tried helping her, but there was no way she was stepping in that! This might be a trait passed on from maa-maa – not liking sand and the beach.

The sky was a gorgeous color, sun behind a think cumulus cloud. Everett played with sand and the waves.

We played around the pools afterwards. Even at this hour, people had come out to stake claims on beach chairs and all of the 6 day beds around the pools had a towel or some article of clothing strewn on it.

Anyways, we got some morning exercise running up and down slopes and ramps. Sierra’s really into this, like Everett was at her age. Sierra also likes stairs, but making sure to reach up and grab one of your fingers for help first.

Shannon was up and found us by the pool. We went over to the restaurant for breakfast yummy-yummy, and then spent some time by the pool again. The kids were going to be tired, so the plan was to swim in the afternoon after lunch and stay dry in the morning.

A little more Connect4. Gracias!

Then goofing around on the hammocks.

Here’s another couple of clips of Sierra really getting worked up about sand on her feet, and dirty hands. Oh boy, it’s tough being a little girl!
