Dark Light

We’ve encountered some pretty large iguanas in Cancun. Usually when the sun is out and it is hot, the lizards (“wizards” as Everett pronounces them) come out and lounge on the hot patio or concrete.

Sierra always makes sure to point out two types of animals here, the iguanas are one, and the other being birds. She makes her sounds and points right to them to make sure that you know that they are there. It’s funnier with the lizards because she says “roar!” when identifying them. I think it’s because we makes those sounds at home when we play with toy dinosaurs and alligators, and Sierra recognizes them as such.

Here, Sierra is enthusiastically letting me know that there’s an iguana out on the deck! She goes and gets Everett, telling him there’s a “roar!” there, but Everett was more interested in running around.

Everett has a funny reaction when he is surprised ever since he was very young, less than one year old. You know the shocked expression where your mouth opens into an O shape and your cover your open mouth with your hands in shock? Well, no one taught him that, but that is exactly what he does, even as a little baby.

He did this when he first took a shower and he witnessed drops spraying out of the showerhead. He did it when he looked at a squirrel and it suddenly scurried away from him. When a loud noise catches him off guard, or an excited dog dashes in front of him, he does this reaction.

Here we are chasing an iguana and a couple of birds.

After quiet / map time this afternoon, Sierra helped me with some video editing.
