I awoke at around 6am to an argument between Shannon and Sierra. Sierra was crying and Shannon was swearing at her. Of course, Sierra just keeps on screaming, louder in fact. Another night of no sleep with the difficult child.
I took Sierra before she got strangled and went up to Everett’s room while Shannon went to lay down. With all the commotion, Everett was up too, since he’s usually up early anyways.
We read some books. Everett tried showing Sierra how to crawl. Right now she just teeters on her abs as she hasn’t grasped how to push with her legs yet. She rolls both ways well, just I’m not sure if they’re completely intentional, or if they just happen with more ease now. We’ve made a lot of progress sitting, and for at least a minute or two, she wouldn’t fall over and do a face plant.
Everett was a good boy this morning and showed Sierra how his Russian doll worked. Everett is still not convince with letting Sierra hold any of his toys, a longstanding insecurity of his with any of his friends, and he complained to me this morning about how Sierra is always touching all of his stuff.
Poor Sierra – all she wants to do is pick up and hold little hand sized nick-nacks and transfer them from hand to hand. She’s at the stage where she like just grasping things, and not at the “in the mouth” oral stage yet.
Nearing 7am, we all got dressed and snuck out of the house to Tim Hortons. Sierra fell asleep along the way and I left her in the car while Everett and I went in for breakfast and took a seat by the window in front of the car. A group of 7 of Red Deer’s finest were out for breakfast too. Everett didn’t leak it to them that I left Sierra in the car by herself.
We then headed over to Rosedale to explore a new park which Everett quite enjoyed. The park at Roland/Randall is geared more for older kids, and was all wet from rain and condensation. Everett did get a kick out of the community exercise equipment though. Sierra finally awoke and together we went further out east exploring the old forest that I played in growing up.
Rather than being a distant overgrown forest past a field of wheat at the frontier of the city, these old trees are now in the the center of the new Rosedale suburb, complete with a paved path going right through it. We did some exploring and found another playground nearby, which was much more age appropriate for Everett. The mosquitoes this year were vicious already! Everett did humor me by allowing himself to be propped up on some branches for a photo.
