As parents, we have been very tempted to buy the kids a Nintendo Switch for a long time now. Pretty much every kid we know has one (or two), and we thought about gifting one as a birthday or Christmas present for several years. It’s one of those toys that I know Everett would really like. Sierra would probably like as well, but to a lesser extent.
I remember how my brother and I pined for a video gaming system, but had to wait until we were in high school before our parents would allow us to buy one with our money.
Everett I know has been thinking about one for a long time, and he has listened to us about how to go about saving his allowance and writing down things that he wants to buy with his “spend money.” Among other things on his list was an Apple Watch, and hockey goalie pads.
He finally saved enough and came to a decision that he wanted to buy the Nintendo Switch Lite, the basic version that he could afford.
Because he’s been such a good boy, I subsidized an upgrade so he could get the Nintendo Switch 2, along with a full set of 4 controllers so we could play all together. Personally, I’ve been thinking about getting a good Xbox or PS5, but we can have fun with the top of the line Nintendo. Further, I decided that Everett can have something that his neighbor friends have had for a while now.
This Nintendo is probably as much for me as it is for Everett.
