Dark Light

Summer marked the end of the third wave (will there be a fourth?) of the pandemic and allowed a reprieve from “lockdown” for us to go outside, enjoy the weather, and see our friends and family. Rules regarding masks, restaurants and dining are still in flux. We’ve several heat waves which were unusual as well.

Here are a couple of videos of the family spending time together at home.

Sierra is turning out to be quite the little personality. She loves girly things such as looking good, putting her hair to the side, wearing earrings and make up, and of course nail polish. I’m not sure how hard she is trying to break her nail picking habits, but she tells us she is. Lately, she decided to wear her dresses with only one strap (tucking the other under her arm). Sierra does her own thing. In the follow video, I get to enjoy a spa treatment from Piggy.

Everett still can’t play by himself. He needs friends or parents around. On roundtrips, Sierra would color and make up stories with her dolls, but Everett needs to talk to mom and dad nonstop. He’s becoming a good little reader now, good enough for him to get into a series of dragon stories which has preoccupied him lately.

Sierra now realizes that living in the forest by herself might not be a good idea, but she still occasionally thinks about being on her own when things don’t go her way with the family.
