Dark Light

This was the first year we have had the kids playing soccer. Sierra did not want to go to soccer lessons I think because she was scared and did not know what that entailed.

Sierra was first, and pretty much right after that, it did not seem as bad as she thought it would be. Throughout the soccer lesson that day, she tried not to smile or show that she was having any fun, but she did not do too badly and it appeared that she had a good time. Despite crying and whining on warning about staying home, and not wanting to go to soccer, at the end she agreed to go again the following weekend.

Everett was more enthusiastic and wanted to give it a try right off the start. We have always worried about Everett being not very coordinated, but I think he is doing pretty good. It is possible that Sierra may be a little bit more advanced intrinsically from an athletic standpoint, but then again she also has a bigger brother to keep up with! I have been out playing Frisbee with Everett, and he is starting to throw pretty well. Tennis was so-so, and I think we should revisit it in the new future. He likes playing catch with one of the big bouncy balls, and given that he has not done any sport ball activities or soccer, I think his skills are pretty decent. Certainly with swimming where we have spent most of our time, he is quite good, and he has no problems with skiing and riding his bike.
