Spring couldn’t come soon enough, and at the same time, I can’t believe it’s spring already! The Lee family has been lucky over this pandemic year. Our kids have been great making the best of playing with each other and staying home. Winter is probably the most difficult season at the best of times, but during lockdowns, there’s no where to go and no one to visit. When spring finally arrived it was very liberating.
The kids still wake us up each morning, checking in first thing when the “clock is yellow” to make sure mom and dad (mainly mom) is in their rooms. Everett is always hungry in the morning, Sierra doesn’t eat much. We try to do piano regularly, and a Kumon workbook every day. Everett has recently taken to chess and loves playing asking all the time.
Sometimes the kids get to play with the neighbourhood kids, which serves to keep the parents sane as well as provide socialization for the children. This was interrupted when one of them got COVID-19 from school, and by virtue of being close contacts, we had to isolate for two weeks. Everett and Sierra understood though and took it in stride.
Sierra still loves TV, by far her most favorite thing to do. She has her pig, a blanket over her legs and the remote set on her lap and she can watch the whole day until her brain melts. I never thought Everett would get past the TV stage, but he’s pretty good at stopping, but not Sierra.
They do crafts that take more time to set up than to complete, and leave their stuff all over the place. Sierra really likes sweeping. Everett prefers his room tidy, while Sierra has stuff everywhere. Kids against dad tag is a favorite downstairs game enhanced by stuffed projectiles.
With the weather warming, it seems like the world has opened up as we look for signs of spring, get on our bikes and play in the parks!
