Piggy has come a long way from being a little piggy (who wasn’t even a pig yet) to being a very fast yu-yu.
We enrolled the kids in the Survival Swim course, a series of daily 10 minute swim lessons emphasizing how to survive if one accidentally fell into water. The kids focus on swimming towards a platform or edge while flipping on to a back float to take a rest in between and to catch one’s breath.
It was actually a superb reprieve of some physical activity during the COVID-19 shutdowns when all the public pools are closed. The pool that we used was a hotel pool that was rented out just for the lessons.
What was an even better bonus was that every one enrolled in the courses we knew, so the kids pretty much got around an hour of swimming altogether while the teacher worked through the lessons with each kid. They had tons of fun along with Eli and Sadie, Harrison and Isla.
Everett was already quite a good swimmer so he had no problems, and Sierra learned to be even more comfortable in the water. She is a fast little swimming, using just her legs for kicking, arms back by her side. She then flips over for a true starfish back float.
On the ski slopes Sierra has gotten surprisingly good with the turns (the scratching as Everett terms it). We managed two trips to Panorama so she had around four private lessons. When she goes up the ski chair with the instructor, we don’t really know how she is doing, but she managed a couple of runs with daddy and daddy got to see how good of a skier Piggy was!
On the drive back, Piggy wears her unicorn head band to prevent head aches.
