Everett was a quick study when learning his letters. He splashed his toy letters in the tub at age 2 and certainly by 4 he knew all of them. I remember not quite understanding how Maebyn (his friend who was a little older) just could not learn her letters, and how Rees (also 4 at the time of our St. Lucia trip, although she was the 3rd child) didn’t know hers either.
And then there’s Sierra, who is a totally different story from Everett when it comes to letter learning. She does her own thing, and letters does not seem to be one of them.
We’re working through some Kumon books right now, but despite tons of repetition, it is very slow going. Even when asked within a couple of seconds with a “distracting letter” in between, she forgets. What’s funny is then she goes on to guess some random letters.
I don’t know if there’s any other way. We’ve got some Disney letter flash cards that we are going back to trying. She has certainly picked up some letters along the way, but the couple of left over letters are really not sticking.
Right now, daddy is trying to teach her “n” the last three days. She keeps guessing D. The favorite guess a couple of months ago used to be W.
