This week, I decided to teach Everett how to make eggs on a pan.
Already, he has learned how to make hard boiled eggs, that is, gently set the egg in a pot of boiling water with a spoon so that the egg doesn’t break. I’ve let the kids scramble eggs in a bowl too. Their enthusiasm to help out in the kitchen should have prompted me to get them involved earlier, but it wasn’t until someone else on a Facebook group brought this up that I even thought to teach this.
I don’t really know when most kids start cooking their own eggs and working with the stove, but this six year old is certainly capable. And his little sister is in the background helping out too, doing her own thing.
I think this goes to show that we could probably even get them to do more household tasks.
