With the pandemic lockdown in effect, one of the outdoor activities still open is skiing at Canyon. Since the kids are not in full time school yet, we try to pick times when there are the least number of people around. The mid afternoon is essentially line free, while after 5pm, the place starts getting packed.
Everett really like skiing and gets better every time we go out. He is giving Sierra tips on how to scratch the snow as she starts with a ski lesson herself. She’s about the same age as when Everett started, and I’d have to look back at how Everett was back then! So far, she’s just getting used to standing on skis – no pizza or fries yet.
The first time I went on the hill together with Everett, he showed me around the runs that he did with his teacher before. We went down the blue run right in front of the chalet which is deceptively steep, and he just busts down it. If Everett is going fast, I can’t really catch him, so it is a little unnerving not knowing how much control he has and whether or not he’s going to wipe out or hit the “slow down” fence, but he has managed to stay in control. I think we are ready to give Nakiska a try again!
