Dark Light

As the days go by, there are increasing measures to reduce public exposure and spread of COVID-19. As isolation recommendations ramped up, daddy cancelled and postponed non-urgent appointments, and got to stay home as we were supposed to be on vacation for daddy’s birthday.

Fortunately on the flip side we have gotten to spend a lot of quality time together as a family. Daddy hopes to be able to leave his phone as he is not on call, and so he can escape the barrage of COVID-19 emails and constant updates on Facebook groups.

Daddy taught Everett how to wash his hands even as a very little boy, and after telling him about germs, he did not hesitate to follow the rules and keep washing his hands for the duration of a full two songs (Happy Birthday to You, or ABCs). Everett doesn’t even rush his songs singing so slowly that probably a single song would have been sufficient.

Sierra continues to enjoy cosmetics and painting her nails. We are impressed at the degree of precision she does her lipstick, and patience with her nails.

We did get to Mastermind Games to stock up on some activities. We found some board games which hopefully are hits. Sierra is happy doing her own thing reading some books. She just plops her bum down wherever she is and flips through the pictures book after book.

And saying at home and trying to keep active. The spare bed is folded up, Chromecast is hooked up to the TV and we have a gym now!

Mom and dad decided to come up with a schedule with Everett. Like the calendar, we think he does better when he knows what to expect the upcoming days. Without forewarning of some activities he gets caught off guard or something and might decide that he doesn’t like doing something. Especially now that schools have been closed (as of this Sunday!), some structure might keep both kids and parents sane.

More so than usual, Everett has been expression his affection for daddy by drawing him very nice pictures. Here’s the latest feature the two boys on the water at the beach. The little Everett is copying daddy doing something, surfing we think.

And the little Piggy quite enjoys coloring and drawing too, and her skills are certainly improving. Here we can see Sierra wearing her Moana dress (hint: it’s the orange and yellow one). The family appears to me happy for the most part, and yes, there are random heads here and there. Sierra is starting to write her name as well, but it is a work in progress, much like teaching her to recognize the letters A and E.Capture5.JPG

A couple of months ago, Sierra drew faces like this… kind of pig-like.
