Dear Yun Geet,
Daddy was just at the piano recital with you where we played our duet, and I watched the video over again for that Saturday. Daddy is very happy on how good you have become on the piano. You started playing only about a year ago, and according to Maa-maa, daddy started playing piano at about the same age.
We’ve got a little repertoire of songs that you like starting with the Passacaglia duet. You are also good at Sweet Child of Mine and Puff the Magic Dragon. I like how you are excited for the recitals. You enthusiastically show me how your name is the first one at the top of the program, and then you bound up the stairs to play your song.
I vaguely remember my first recital. It was a competition against my friend David Ho, and I played The Sleepy Alligator. Somewhere along the way as your get older, performances start to get nerve wracking and even today, I was a little nervous playing the duet with you, but you did a great job and your teacher Ms. Bev was really happy!
You look like a cute little Bean, little up beside the grand piano in your snow boots, and although it’s only been a year, much more mature than your first recital already.
Grandma and Papa came to Red Deer just to see you perform, and Maa-maa and Yeh-yeh were proud too. Papa told me that he always wanted a musical grandchild, and you may be the first. We’re all excited for your piano and the next recital!
