We were reading a Peppa Pig book about jobs, and growing up. Everett wanted to be a teacher. And Sierra? “A Queen.” She would make a perfect queen, the little piggy!
Because Sierra was in the parent accompanied swimming lessons in the morning this week, my favorite little boy came with me to work at the office. Everett was very excited, and daddy was happy to have his Beanie come along. (Except of course once at the office, there was not internet and I had to troubleshoot, there were complicated patients, and Everett had to be kept busy!). Everett has always wondered what fang-gong or work was like, and was very curious about these “sick people” that mommy and daddy made feel better. I had Everett meet a couple of patients, just saying hi and shaking hands, before he would be happy to have helped out, and go back to my office to do some coloring.
At the end, of the day, Everett told me he wanted to be a doctor too like me. But there were certain conditions. He wanted to go to work at the office only on the days that I went, and to see the same patients.
Another day, Everett and Sierra were discussing getting married. Everett said he was going to marry Natalie, and told Sierra she was going to marry Ian. Sierra didn’t agree. She said Ian was a boy and she doesn’t like boys. She was decided she was going to marry Charlotte!
We were driving one day and trying to figure out what six plus two was. As you’ll recall, Everett is good at counting numbers on fingers, but with 6+2, the fingers didn’t quite work as with number 5 and less. I told him it was 8, but he was convinced that it was 7. And he couldn’t be told otherwise, because he said, “I believe in myself!” – a quote from our book Dumbo.
