Just another day in paradise. Everett woke up first and quietly opened our bedroom door, located my side of the bed and whispered to me that it was time to get up! Such a smart grown up Bean now, not waking up mommy. Of course, once outside of the room, no more whispering.
This morning I cut some piece of “happy birthday cheesecake” for Everett for breakfast which he thoroughly enjoyed, and didn’t really eat anything else. He also wasn’t too restless and loud this morning as we sat in his bed and read his new favorite Paw Patrols book that we bought him when we went out to Wal-Mart two days ago.
It’s quite amazing to see how devoted he is to studying this Paw Patrols book. He couldn’t put it down when we bought it, and every night we read it a couple of times, before nap time and sometimes he looks at it himself, as if it were a shiny new toy every single time he holds the book. Being 5 books in one, he already knows what’s going on with all the stories.
We also bought him a package of 6 or 7 Paw Patrol underwear. “Wow! Paw ‘trolls!” he said when we got it. He held on to them throughout the rest of our Wal-Mart shopping trip until we got home, looking at them, not even opened from its package.
We’re trying to potty train Everett as he has a predictable poo in the mornings now. This morning, I missed it because the bugger locked himself in the bedroom and didn’t unlock until he was already done!
We went out to the pool, but it was a windy day and not as warm as usual. Most of the morning was spent in Everett’s favorite pool, “the warm one” where he played with a bunch of trucks along the ledge. Now decked out in flotation gear, he has confidence to float from on side of the hot tub to the other, and even kicking and using his arms to paddle a little.
This was our last day at Waipouli. It’s been a great resort, and a blast having a nice place with a great pool for the kids (mainly Everett), and lots of room for the family. But being our 10th day, I think this is the right time for us to be moving to the new place tomorrow.
After lunch and nap, we decided to get in the car and head north once again. The weather wasn’t the best for swimming today, and we were actually kind of swimmed out too. We went for a road trip and decided to check out the Lighthouse again mainly for Everett’s benefit. “Capt’n Turbot’s lighthouse” as he knows it by.
Well, we saved ourselves $10 because the lighthouse was once again closed, at 4pm while we arrived at 5:30. But this was just as good because we drove down to Hanalei Bay and had a blast on the beach. The sand was fine, and there were lots of skilled surfers, tiny kids who looked only a few years older than Everett. We ran up and down the beach, trying to keep away from the waves. In the end, Everett soaked his clothes of course (well we’re not going to the St. Regis for dinner now!), it was inevitable, and we caught a beautiful sunset as the sun went behind the Napali mountain.
