We’ve been trying to get Everett to be as helpful as possible. Not only does he enjoy doing new things, but it gets him involved, and out of trouble… He started off learning to get his plastic bowls and dishes from his cupboard for meal time and he put some things in the dishwasher himself too. But often he gets interested in all the other stuff in the dishwasher and starts poking around.

It depends on his mood how likely he is to help out, and often “helping out” isn’t really helping out. For example, he loves sweeping the floor which doesn’t really do a whole lot of good. I get him out of the house when I shovel the snow, but really it’s just him playing around with his red shovel.

But then he has one of those toddler meltdowns when his Blankie ends up needing to be dried too.
