Everett is adventurous and isn’t hesitant to get right in there and do things. I was shoveling snow a couple of days ago. I wanted to get it done quickly, so didn’t dress Everett to help out. But he comes out after me and grabs the small red shovel from the hook and pushes snow around with me. Nowadays, he likes climbing up in to his car seat, so when I offer him a choice between climbing up or me putting him in the car seat, he wants to climb up and (more) quickly gets out of the house. He went to gymnastics and a had a great time jumping around and walking on the balance beams.
Everett is also cautious, and I think maybe more cautious than the average toddler. He is aware of heights and that falling can hurt him. Maybe this is because he’s taken a tumble a couple of times already… like those two times down our stairs at the old house on Windermere. He makes that mama is around to hold his hand when he climbs up on the balance beam. He calls down to grandma at the bottom of a tall covered slide (where he can’t see the bottom) to make sure that she’s there to catch him. When we tell him something will cause a big ouwee, he will usually not do it. On the cell phone, he knows where the photos and videos are kept, and tells me after turning on the phone to put the “flower,” which is the Android icon for the Gallery. But interestingly, he doesn’t push it himself. I inadvertently told him he could push it himself, but I’m not sure yet if that was a good idea.
