Dark Light

Yesterday, I arrive at Las Vegas for a nephrology conference as I was nearing my MOC cycle and missing a whole bunch of credits to keep my Royal College certification active. I basically booked the Renal Research Institute Conference because it was the closest one. My schedule was packed for work only pretty much, as I was arrive just in time for the conference and leaving right after. Because I had a hotel room at Caesar’s Palace, Edwin and my mom decided to stay in the room too, and then continue on to San Francisco for a holiday.

I took Everett to day home yesterday in the late morning, and while recently drop offs have been quite good, Everett was very sad. I told him I was going fang gong and that he should be a good boy, have lunch, and a nap, and then mom will pick him up. He was teary and reached out for me as Candice took him out back to the kitchen. Little Beans are smarter than you think, and he might have know that I was going to be gone for a couple of days.

I had taken off the front panel of Everett’s crib over the weekend and now Everett is excited for his “new bed” which he can get in and out of by himself. We have found him on the floor a couple of times already, and Shannon just told me at 5am he was on the floor and couldn’t get back into the crib so we’re going to borrow a gate to keep him in. Now at 7:30am, Everett can barge right into our room when his clock changes color and announce “Dada it’s yellow! Dada it’s yellow!”

Sierra had regressed and was getting up every hour for the last two days needing to eat. She was a bit better last night when I was gone, getting up 3 times. Sierra actually likes looking and swatting at her jungle gym, unlike Everett who really wasn’t interested at all. “Sierra’s kicking,” Everett would say, as she moves her arms and legs around all the time playing. Shannon recruited Holly to come over to see if she could get her to feed from the bottle so that we would have some options.

I thought I’d have better sleep at the conference, but I forgot mom snores very heavily, so it wasn’t any different. The earplugs that I bought here didn’t work, but the noise cancelling Bose earphones were actually pretty good.

Everett still needs an afternoon nap to last him until bed time. We thought at one point maybe…
