I threw a surprise birthday party for Shannon on her 40th birthday. She totally did not see it coming. I had invited about 19 friends out to a fancy dinner that Monday evening at Gusto, after arranging it with the restaurant owner. My parents came over to look after the kids while we were out. We ended up having the evening to ourselves which was very nice, and for the most part, the kids were okay too.
Everett did not have any problems, but Sierra is still not used to being not held all the time. Unfortunately, she will not eat from anything other than the boob so despite having pumped a couple of bottles of breastmilk, Sierra did not eat anything the whole time! My parents tried walking her and giving her different nipples, but to no real avail.
Everett is certainly becoming a big boy now. He would try and comfort Sierra rocking her swing and moving the dangley toys in front of her face. He said “Don’t cry Sierra, Everett is here.” What a helpful bean.
Eventually, Sierra cried herself out, and was resuscitated when Shannon got back. Sierra was completely exhausted.
Another funny thing was my dad’s description of Everett trying to watch Paw Patrols in our bedroom. This is his favorite cartoon by far, so much so that we have stopped letting him watch cartoons, because he cannot control himself. We would let him watch, but then he would be whiny the rest of the day after we stop the TV.
He told my dad to turn the TV on by pushing the “green button.” Of course, this only brings on static, and Everett told my dad to “fix the TV.” My dad told him that he did not know how. Everett told him “use the phone.” This is because we usually Chromecast Netflix onto the TV. This did not work. Everett said, “try to fix it!” And when the TV didn’t work, he told my dad to “Wait!” Because oftentimes it would take a minute or two before Chromecast would kick in, or the TV would turn on.
It is really funny seeing how the little guy’s mind works.
